The legacy of this fabulous past is that Streatham has settled into a fairly safe, family-friendly and quietly affluent neighbourhood, with excellent transport links into central London. Not many suburban London areas can boast their own top quality Ice Arena, but Streatham’s recently refurbished rink and attached swimming pool is a sign of the upward trend for access to leisure in the area. The green space at Streatham Common is also a great place to enjoy a walk or a picnic and is ideal for families. If you thought that Streatham might be too far out from central London to attract top musical talent, then think again as the Hideaway Jazz Club is widely regarded as one of the very best in London and always guarantees a good night of music. The rookery at the top of Streatham Common is lovely to spend some quiet time. Tooting Common is a great place to go for a run, and has a Lido to go for an outside swim if you are feeling brave enough! M&S food and Aldi have all food options. Addommè and Bravi Ragazzi are both good places to enjoy tasty sourdough pizza, while Hood is modern and colourful place that serves quality seasonal dishes in a friendly atmosphere. Pratts and Payne is a foodie-boozer with a great selection of drinks as well as a gastro-pub menu of hearty dishes, as is situated in the beautiful art deco building of a former department store. For a daytime coffee, try Boyce da Roca for a quality brew and for an evening drink in a traditional British pub, the Manor Arms is the place to go. Alternatively, The Bull and The Earl Ferrers offer a wide selection of beers and wines in a friendly atmosphere. ##Transit Train - there are two train stations within 10 min walk. Streatham has the Thameslink. These trains run through Blackfriars and Kings Cross station down to Wimbledon. There are other trains from this station going to London Bridge. Streatham Common station has trains going to Clapham junction and through to Victoria station. You can also get trains from here to Gatwick airport (with one easy change at East Croydon). Bus - quick journeys to Tooting, Balham, Brixton, Clapham, Croydon from the Streatham bus station next to Tesco extra. Tube - easy to get the bus to the northern line (Tooting) and Victoria line (Brixton). The Citymapper app is highly recommended for help getting around! ##Notes -The property is on the first floor and there is a staircase for access. -In the kitchen, if you want to switch the led lights on/off there are two switches. The first is next to the nest thermostat - a little black box. Just tap your finger on it. It has three settings of brightness and then the last one will switch it off. The second switch is near the sink, to the right-hand side. Look under the cupboard and you will see the same little black box. The same thing - a tap will cycle through the options.
