Very charming, stylish, spacious (30sqm, equivalent to 3 standard double rooms) studio, with an arty, “boho” feel, thanks to decorative touches such as vintage tiles and exposed brick wall. Thanks to its french doors opening onto a juliet balcony, with views of grade-listed Kensal Green cemetery, It is full of light. The studio is self catering, with its own kitchenette and ensuite shower room, with the sleeping and living areas separated by a retractable linen screen for added privacy if needed. The sleeping area has a queen bed and the living area a click clack that transforms from sofa to bed in seconds. The loft studio is situated at the top of my family home, a Victorian house dating back to 1885. Although the studio shares the street door entrance and corridors/steps with the main house (as would be the case in a flat or hotel), it is fully independent and has its own (lockable) entrance door at the top. Added bonus : access to the backyard garden for smokers and washer-dryer in the family kitchen for a small supplement). Kensal Green is a small, cute neighourhood, only 10 minutes walk to Notting Hill and its famous Portobello Market, with very good public transport to central London (25 minutes direct to Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus from nearby Kensal Green station) but also to most of London’s most scenic areas (Kew Gardens, Hampstead Heath, Richmond Park…) through Kensal Rise overground station. It has a vibrant community centred around its gastro-pubs, trendy bars, independent boutiques and cafes, yoga and pilates studios, and nearby Queen’s Park, with plenty of grocery shopping options (from small organic food shops to farmer’s market on sunday, to big supermarket less than 10 minutes walk). At the same time, its tree-lined, small streets of victorian terraced houses retain a quiet charm. Voted “most trendy neighbourood” by Vogue in 2011, it has attracted its fair share of celebs over the years, such as singer Rita Ora or actor Edris Elba, whike always keeping its vibrant, multicultural, arty vibe.
