With London Bridge just one stop away and steeped in rich architectural history, Bermondsey is home to a hip young crowd who like to mingle in cosy pubs, eateries and indie shops lining village-like Bermondsey Street. A cultural-haven in its own right, here you can also find the Fashion and Textiles Museum as well as the White Cube Contemporary Art Gallery, a ground-breaking gallery in a renovated 1970s building, with a program of artists' and feature films. The Tate Modern, The Globe Theatre (with a full programme of Shakespeare plays), HMS Belfast, and Tower Bridge are all within a 10 to 15-minute walk from Bermondsey station. From London Bridge, you can reach London Gatwick Airport on a direct train, with only 35 mins journey. If you fancy a ride instead, Uber and Cabify are nice and cheaper alternatives to taxis.
